Valving Baseline for 07CRF450 with 09 KYB Forks!

Recommended Posts

i will try a set of 09 CRF KYB Forks on my CRF 450/07.

i hope i can test both Forks and both Tripple Clamps on my Bike.

i think the valving on the 09 fork is not the best, would be a YZF 07 Setting better for a first test?

i will also test my De-- Taco set on this Fork(i think on the KYB this kit will work fine?)

Rider 70 kg int.MX

any opinions ?

I would try the new fork at first with the std settings and after that will make some changes.

yes, of course!

but i have ride this Fork on diffrent Bikes/(09CRF).

in my opinion its to soft on lo-speed and mid, rides lo and harsh in any bumps!

i have this only for experience , i ride the fork at first in stock condition on a diffrent bike, at next i will try a good common Setting and see how this works!

-09 bike geometry is different. Kyb fork will work great on that bike but it will take time also. Let us know what you have tested and the results.

first ride with the new Forks!

Track !

Dry, hard Track with lots of stones (ARCO Italy).

small to medium bumps, fast track!

sag 102mm.

the bike feels good in corners , stably and easily

i like the 20mm clamp.

the fork feels realy well, overall stiffness it`´s ok:

No Bottoming!(to much oil)

harsh on the small hard stuff

to much reb?

i like the feeling on larger braking bumps, but on not the small one.

i will try the reb like a 2007 yzf 450 fork and 330ccm oil?

any opinions?

Thank for info. "i will try the reb like a 2007 yzf 450 fork and 330ccm oil" That could help a little. Maybe it need more testing with different oil levels and clicker settings before make any internal settings.

Thats about the differance between the 2010 crf250 forks and the 09/10 450 forks. While your testing try sliding the forks down to where the caps are almost sunk to simulate the same ride height as your 07 forks. I think you will be surprised at what you find.

6mm!

Did you also compare the 07 and 09 triple clamps? Just don't forget to use a point of reference which is the same in relation to the chassis.

07 clamp 24/192

09 clamp 20/192

height is the same!

the 09 clamp fit the 07 perfeckt with the 07 Bearings!(09 use diffrent bearings!)

Thanks!

height is the same!

Actually I meant if the distance in height from the upper edge of the top triple clamp (from where you measure fork leg height) to the contact point of the top triple clamp with the steering head is the same. Naturally if this measurement is different on the 07 and 09 triple clamps you could only compare fork leg position/length between those two with an according offset.

Reason I ask is that I have a X-trig triple clamp for the 09/10 CRF which actually puts the upper edge 3mm lower than the stock triple clamp. So if you'd run the fork legs in the same positon (for example flush) on both triple clamps, the x-trig would run the fork legs 3mm lower than stock. X-trig didn't say anything about this, but it changes the handling of the bike considerably to the better.

There are many ways to stiffen it up. You can try this if your current setting works well.
