Throttle tube

Recommended Posts

Putting the new bars and grips on, PO obviously dropped the bike on the right side, mashed/torn grip end, and the throttle tube is a bit squished on the end. Also drags just a bit on the bar, slow to return. Can I trim up the plastic and go about my business, or do I have to replace the tube? I know that's the best thing, but I'm trying to get back riding.

Slide it partly off the bar (so you only cut the plastic) and cut it flush with a hack saw. Thats how you install bar end bark busters so it will not hurt it.

Then order a dual cable billet throttle tube off ebay and you will love it compared to the OEM plastic model. Smoooooth operator !

I've cut the ends off of all my throttle tubes to put on hand guards. Just adjust it so the grip doesn't grab on the end of the bars or put some hand guards on. I haven't broken a single lever since I started running hand guards (2002 I think) and yes I crash, regularly.
