Main bearing question?

Recommended Posts

I just received some new main bearing for the bottom end rebuild on my 01 yz250. It was raining when they showed up and my packaging was soaked. the bearings their individual packaging have water in them. My dad told me to let them dry out but i think they could have permanent flaw from this. I feel like i should return it and get an exchange cause they did a horrible job packaging it. It should have been bagged inside i think to keep water out... Will this water exposure kill the bearing?? or will they be ok if they dry out?

Let them dry, you'll be fine. If you're worried about water in the bearings still, put them in an oven, at low heat for a little while, that should get the water out.

Use WD-40 on them. This is one application that it excels at.

+1, wd = water displacement, 40 = 40th formula that the company settled on.
