# 14: OIL SEAL

Not sure how to change it but I think thats your leak. Send some smoke signals to creeky cause Im sure he knows if it can be changed without pulling the cover.

Cant be. Thats just the bracket that holds the decompression cable and the bolt holding it doesnt go threw to the engine. Look how small #7 is.

It would be #14 and no you will have to take the cover off to get at the decompression pin. Mine has been doing it for quite sometime now. A little anoying but just keep an eye on the oil level etc. Just my 2cs'

Do change the seal you will need to:

1) remove seat and tank.

2) remove Decomp cable.

3) remove valve cover

4) remove item 13****

5) slide out decomp shaft

6) remove seal and replace

7) reverse process

****I replaced this seal on two bikes, a '82 XL250R and a '94 XR250L. On the '82 XL item 13 just fell out, no problem. On the '94 XR it was a press fit and I had to use a heat wrench to pull it out. NOTE: mark how deep it is before removing it so you push it back in far enough but not too far.
