92 rmx pipe question

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a pro circuit pipe for my 92 rmx 250, however this pipe is about 6 inches longer than my stock pipe. So what I was wondering is do I have to get a new shorty silencer to go with it or can I possibly just cut down my existing silencer to fit. And if I can cut it down it shouldn't mess any thing up will it. Thanks in advance for any input. Have a great day!

If it's the correct pipe for your bike, it shouldn't be longer. At least not 6 inches longer. Maybe 1, but even that would mess with alignment.

Sounds like you've got an RM pipe on your bike right now, not an RMX pipe. What silencer are you using right now? The huge stock one or an aftermarket aluminum?

Can you post a couple of pictures? Or email the pictures to me and I'll post them.

What you have sounds like the '89-'90 RMX pipe - the muffler and S/A from those years had a short inlet and long pipe stinger.

I am not familiar with '91-'92 but do know they were somehow different judging from FMF and PC's part #s.

Can you exchange it as someone made a mistake?

If you cannot then get the earlier muffler and S/A.
