Help. I have no vin

Recommended Posts

I bought a yz125 engine and would like to know what year it is. The dealer parts counter gal said I have to have a vin. I cant get the vin. There are numbers on the engine..It seems to me they must ID the engine some how. Does anyone know how I can find out what year this engine is?

I don't think it matters. The vin the DMV recognizes as legal is on the frame. They don't check motor numbers. That's really only of interest to collectors. Cases crack and get replaced.

Google the engine number and see what you can come up with.

agree, just google the number that you found on the engine, you would be suprised on what youll come up with doing it that way. Like someone else said Yamaha should be able to help identify you engine, get ahold of a number and they can probably tell you more about that number then anyone else.
