Air Filter Advice

Recommended Posts

Will removing the metal screen from the factory air filter cage cause any performance problems? I did it thinking it would run better and it seems to run worse. (Hard starting, pops and sputters on acceleration, and power loss) Dosen't seem to make sense. Can anyone help with this? Thanks

I forgot to mention that I have done this on several other bikes without any problems except this one (crf250r) It just seems odd. And I had already put the screen back on after the first ride.

if it is on an 09 or older you need to change the idle jet to a 48 or 50 when it pops it needs a bit more fuel, we always race our bikes without the screen , it gives a much better air flow

people remove it for the 1/4 of a horsepower increase and the chance to catch their bike on fire.. sounds logical to me :ride::thumbsup:
