Front sprocket cover?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

The PO of my bike must have lost the front sprocket cover, does this matter much? Seems they go for around £20 second hand so I don't really want to buy one.

Do E models come with them from factory?

Removed mine. Not necessary unless you're super paranoid about snagging your pants.

If you remove the cover, replace the case saver (half moon metal thing). That's important.

BrickTop, I use an old DR350 cover on my E but on the trails I get too much grass/mud/stones caught up in there.

I'm thinking of making a better cover, I'll let you know how I get on.

I have a KLX400R (an E model DR-Z) and really didn't like the look of the cheap stock cover. I've replaced mine with this [1] from Topar Racing. Nicely made, and reasonable price. It uses the stock half-moon case saver.

Next up will be a replacement rear-brake caliper guard, as my stocker is broken.

I made this one from some scrap aluminum. I had some time to kill.

Anyone know where I can get the case saver (half moon bit) I lost mine some time ago when I had the bike apart.
