Stator/Starter loctite fix help - torque wrench!

Recommended Posts

Guys,

My torque wrench only goes down to 30nm

It seems if I buy a smaller torque wrench, it will only go down to 10nm, unless I pay a massive amount more....

10nm = 88.51 inch lb.

If I torque my stator bolts up to 88 inch lb instead of 70 inch lb am I going to destroy them?

Also what size hex socket is required for bolts? So I can get the relevant one to go with the drive of the torque wrench?

Cheers,

Con

What about the Starter Clutch bolts? Do I need a TQ Wrench for those? Or just do them with a key and high strength threadlocker?

When I did the starter clutch bolts I was also faced with the issue that my torque wrench only went down to 10 ft/lbs. The FAQ notes that with 10.9 fasteners that you can torque the bolts to 10 ft/lbs, and lo-and-behold the bolts that were in there were 10.9 (stamped clearly on top). I think they were OEM, as there was no evidence the PO had been in there to do anything.
