Steel Frame 2005

Recommended Posts

I have seen several ads on Craigslist claiming they have an 05 YZ125. But when you look at the picture it has a steel frame. I thought 05 was the first year for the aluminum frame? Was there a transition period there somewhere where some 05 were steel and some were aluminum? Confused...

Check the vin for the 10th digit. I bet it's an 04 or older.

Is the tenth digit the year of manufacturing?

You are right, Bryan. There was no transition-period to the aluminum frame.

The '04s were steel, the '05s were aluminum.

The poor guy may have been told it was an '05 when he bought it.

Also, to verify the year and model designation with the VIN number...

And that's just for the YZ's....the WR's didn't get the aluminum frame until '07.
