New Techy Product for FI?

Recommended Posts

Olds mobile when they were they were still here tested a set of smooth bores with the fuel injection .to bad its not legal in ama flat track we are so down in power with the injection body that just putting an fcr carb makes 4 more hp on the suzukis and kawaskis .

Just looking at the dyno charts below (from their website) it might indicate that the current throttle valve is very inefficient at half throttle as compared to full throttle. The way a butterfly valve opens is weird anyway in that it opens at the top and bottom of the body equally. Maybe that works better in the family car. Wonder why this hasn't come up with the road bikes since they've been using throttle valves for years...

Do the efi hondas suffer from the same power loss,or do there larger throttle bodies flow better? I also question why this hasnt been tried on street bikes? Maybe butterflys offer a more linear throttle response, that is desirable on pavement. All the mags claim how smooth all the efi bikes are through the powerband. Im sure some of this is ignition timing and a/f ratio but maybe some of it comes from how the butterfly opens, kinda how those throttle cams change throttle response.
