Valve springs shims for counter sproket spacing?

Recommended Posts

I know everyone says to get series 100 valve shim springs in .018, .02, .03, or .04 and use the old style front washer, but every cylinder head shop I go to (and some damn good ones that have been in bus. 40+ years) are somewhat confused by this. They only have .015 and .03. Also, the first one they all have me try is a PERFECT match to the inner splines on the CS, but wouldn't go on the shaft. The second one is too large and fits sloppily. Is this what you are all using or can you provide a link to a better fitting shim?

I'm having my CS surface ground (70 passes) down .03 on the front side to account for the shim. This way I can use the 2-piece front washer.

Just to update, it's a B100 or Dura-Bond 3090 valve spring booster shim you need to ask for. .954-.955 ID, 1.311 OD.
