Correct me f I'm wrong but believe the earlier dirt only drz'S had more HP but also had a better carb/cams and a slightly larger heap pipe. And I think some of I changed around 2003??

Cam changes in the later years increased power, keep in mind that these are flywheel horsepower ratings with free flowing exhaust-they do not take in account 20% drivetrain loss.

Some information for you...

Don't go by Suzuki published h.p. numbers, they are at the crank which is pretty much meaningless. We go by what power the bike puts to the ground. A stock S makes about 32 h.p. out of the box and a stock E makes about 40 h.p.

To make 48 h.p. at the wheels on an S/SM will require cams, a carb, 3x3 mod, big bore kit and one of two exhausts.

I really don't know where those numbers are coming from but I think they are wrong.

Unless the the S or SM started shipping with the 39mm FCR, uprated cams and exhaust from 2005 onwards then no way was it making 48hp. As far as I was aware there hasn't yet been an S or SM which was shipped as standard with E or K engine spec.

Even in the description it states that the SM has the BSR carb - nope, I'm calling BS on this one. :-)

I'm with Rich, those figs show the 2005 E and S having the same power so however its measured its wrong, they're not the same

I don't know where you got that info, but a quick look at the weights shows it is wrong. The SM is 30 lbslighter than an S?!?! and the E and Kicker models were the exact same weight?!?!
