rookie mistake

Recommended Posts

i know it`s important to torque bolts properly so i borrowed a torque wrench from a buddy and set it wrong. i tightened my triple clamp pinch bolts to 20lbs, realized my mistake and now have them set to the 15 lower and 16 upper. i`m really hoping i didn`t do damage. 2010 crf250r. anybody know how much too much. it`s really stressin me out. fork action seems fine.

I wouldnt worry to much now that you have them properly torqued. Some people will really wrench down on bolts, and could easily exceed 30 pounds of torque. If I had to guess, you wouldnt do any permanent damage until you get into the 40+ pounds of torque, it could warp the fork tube.

i`ve tried to be so carefull and was in such disbelief on what i had done. just had all my suspension done by fc and keep reading everywhere not to overtorque pinch bolts. but know where says how much it takes to wharp the tubes. but ur reply gives me some peace of mind.
