Speed up a 250X or slow down a 450X

Recommended Posts

Here's the dilemma: 250X needs more power, 450X generates too much. Has anyone compared a punched-out 250X (280) to a de-tuned 450X (gearing, flywheel weight, etc)? The other factor is weight and rotating mass, as the 250X has advantages in the tight, technical trails of North Texas.

If this question has already been posted, I'd appreciate the link.

You need a KTM 250EXC... But I realize that you probably don't car...

I would take the 450, because there is no point on putting more stress on an already high stress motor...

Personally, I would, and did go the 450 route. Except I ended up liking the power

But really, a punched out 250F, IMO is a ticking time bomb, a 450 should get you many more trouble free hours. That was the biggest deciding factor for me to choose a 450.

Too much power....I didn't think there was such a thing.

I would definately go the 450 route. I wouldn't de-tune either. It's all about how much you twist the throttle. You'll get used to the power.
