Slack in Suspension

Recommended Posts

While cleaning my bike after a ride, I noticed a slight gap in my rear suspension. As I was lifting up on the rear wheel to rotate, I noticed a little play. So I broke down the linkage and swing arm to check the bearings, all was good, so I re-greased and re-assembled.....Is there supposed to be play? I have never noticed on my prior bikes, but never payed attention. Any Ideas??

No there isnt supposed to slack in it. Did you torqe the linkage bolts down on the stand or on the ground. You should do it with some load on the rear susp.

Yep. I usually put some press on the seat when tightening the bolts.

From your avatar I guess you have a Suzuki?

My RM-Z came with a loose in the top shock bushing. Check all your torque specs, but if it comes from the top of the shock, you can live with it.
