Wavey Discs?

Recommended Posts

Hey was just wondering do you need to buy special mounts for wavey discs and do they provide better braking than stock or what features do they have compared to stock.

Thanks

The only reason you would have to buy new mounts is if the rotor is a larger diameter than the stock one. In that case you need the new bracket to move the caliper further away from the fork.

Wave rotors help when the brakes get really hot, they don't warp as easy as a regular round rotor. They might stay a bit cooler too.

I ran a 240mm (stock size) wave rotor on my CRF250 and it made a very small difference, if any, in braking strength. After a while I took that off and put on a 280mm regular round rotor and there was a huge improvement. I'll be putting oversized rotors on all my bikes from now on.

I have two rear wheels, one with a standard suzuki disc and one with a braking wavey disc. The rear brake feels identical with both wheels.
