How much $$$ to change a DRZ 400 kicker to e-start?

Recommended Posts

left side case as well.

Not worth it, really.. Buy a good used DRS S, E, SM motor and drop it in the frame, sell the Kicker to recoup costs.

Are you really in Japan? If not where are you located?

Yes in Japan. l'm toying with the idea of buying the cheapest DRZ 400 l can get my hands on and have the bike shipped to Eddie... and then onwards to me over here.

That would be pricey I bet..I know what is cost to ship in money and red tape US to Australia and Malaysia.. was a lot for me, I'm sure Japan is more ..

IN the land of the rising sun, a motorcycle mecca, surly there is a competent go fast speed shop and motor builder?

In any case, see above for your answers.. Best of luck..

if I was in Japan and knew I would only be there for a year or 3 like for the milatairy

I would by on of those turboed mico cars to screem up and down the mounton sides

save your money for the DRZ400 so whin you move back to the USA you could pay cash for the bike and Eddies TLC

last Dissember I saw new drz400SM's sell for under $5,000

Bikes here are not that cheap because the yen is so strong. Same thing goes for shop time and parts. l am from Canada but may be staying here indefinitely.

lf one were going to have the engine completely rebuilt anyway... would it cost loads more to throw an electric starter on? There are kicker "e" bikes for sale around $1,000..... at least compared to an S model you have carb and cams. Either way l'd need wheels as it would be 99% street.

if you had the motor completely apart and found used parts it wouldnt be horrible price wise.

what i suggest is to find a cheap used E or S motor and rebuild it.sell off the kicker motor.

I'd love to buy that kicker motor. I have most of a S motor we could swap if shipping wasn't insane.
