dislocated thumb advice please Dr Mark

Recommended Posts

This weekend I dislocated my thumb, at the back end of it. It went back almost to my wrist. The medic pulled on it and it slid back into place, then popped back out (the weird thing is there was no pain), Dr Mark is this something a normal othopedic doc takes care of or should I see a hand specialist? I have it taped in place now.

Thats a tough question. I have treated hundreds of these over my career, but not all Orthopaedic guys regularly do hand surgery which is done by orthopaedic, plastic, and general surgeons. You should call the local medical society and they could direct you to the right guy near where you live, or come visit me for a day and I will fix it.

OK thanks, does this sound like surgery? Why didn't/doesn't it hurt?

if it is the knuckle joint, it usually remains unstable and power pinch is no longer possible.
