DR-Z 400E Muffler spark arrestor

Guys,

I ride 99% of the time on road, and if I go on dirt then there's not really any such thing as a forest fire in the UK.

If I take the tip off my E muffler, and cut the spark arrestor gauze off, will this increase the throttle response at all?

Worth doing or leave as is?

I cut mine right out as part of my 3x3 mod as I do 99.9% road riding, and it has made a huge difference! My Z accelerates much quicker now that she can breath better.

I put mine in a lathe to open it up. Some guys have just used a hole cutter.

Mine is only a gauze, there's no sleeve around it.

I took the gauze out and opend up the hole so that all I was left with was the stainless steel endcap. Taking out just the gauze won't help it breath better! You need to open up that small hole to let the gases out faster.
