02 case fits 03 CR250R?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the 02 left engine case fits the 03 CR250R?

The Honda numbers are 04922-KZ3-L21 for the 02 and 04922-KZ3-L31 for the 03, so I recon they are interchangeable, but I'm not sure.

Thanks! :banana:

I think 02 to 07 are the same, but odd there is a different part number, better safe than sorry

I've always bought cases as a set, and always recommend it. Even though they are run on a CNC machine, there is no guarantee of the exact dimensions from year to year. This is the reason you have shims sometime on your main shaft and countershaft, so the gears mesh evenly and will not wear uneven. Keep that in mind if you do replace just one side case. Make sure you have a service manual that tells you the clearance's in the trans.

I think that crankcases are line bored too. At least I would hope they are. That means the halves are put together and then the machined straight through so that the bores on both sides line up evenly for the transmission shafts and crank shafts.

SK's $0.02 worth

I think they're the same too, and since there's only one number different in the last part of the Honda parts number, I think they'll fit. But I'll have to be sure. Problem is I can find several 02 cases on eBay, no 03 case.

You are absolutely right. This is for a friend who has a budget. Instead of letting his dealer order a new case he tries to find one himself cheaper.

The dealer will check the alignment of the cases and do the shimming, if necessary.

* New precision-cut stainless steel cylinder base gasket and revised port timing .

* New cylinder head combustion chamber shape.

* New one-piece exhaust valve for improved sealing.

* New piston dome shape.

* New piston features single keystone piston ring for reduced friction and improved sealing.

* New crankshaft design.

* New crankcase with redesigned intake port for smoother air flow and increased journal thickness to decrease crank deflection.

* New six-petal reed valve with narrower profile.

* New reed valve mounting angle.

* New carburetor settings.

* New shift fork shaft, shift forks and shift drum.

* New ECU mapping and RC valve control settings.

* New exhaust pipe shape has increased volume.

* Thicker radiator core (from 24mm to 28mm) improves cooling capacity.

* New front axle placement for improved fork action and turning.

* New swingarm features a dual-axis, double-taper design with a large cast aluminum cross member that is lighter weight and stronger.

* New rear hub is stronger and lighter.

ENGINE:

* New exhaust header and expansion chamber.

New crank and cases for '05-'07 makes intermixing with the '02-'04 design questionable.

They changed the case porting from 02 to 03, so they won't be exact.

      Kicking around the idea of selling my CR250. I have other bikes and never get a chance to ride this one.

      This is a well-maintained bike with tons of aftermarket parts. It's set up primarily for woods/single-track riding, but will still do just fine on an MX track.

      Engine:
      -Fresh Pro-X top end(<1 hour)
      -FMF Gnarly pipe & FMF Shorty silencer(<1 hour on fresh packing)
      -PWK Air-Striker Carburetor(bought new from JD Jetting last year)
      -Steahy 10oz. Flywheel Weight
      -Boyesen Rad Valve with Carbon-fiber reeds
      -TwinAir air filter

      Misc:
      -Excel Pro-Series Wheels(19"/21")
      -Brand-new Shinko tires(546 Front, 505 Cheater Rear not mounted yet) w/ Heavy-duty tubes
      -Works Connection Radiator Guards
      -Skid Plate
      -FMF Factory 909 Handlebars
      -Polished Frame
      -Sunstar 13/51 Steel Sprockets(new in box)

      I'm sure I'm missing a few odds and ends. Comes with a Bill of Sale only. (708)287-1998 - Dave

      Hello,
      I could not seem to find a similar thread so if one exists I apologize. I have an 02 cr250r with an 01 motor. I need to buy a new silencer with a spark arrestor because the current one does not have one. I am not sure if the owner before me used an 01 or 02 silencer because I have read the frame had significant changes from 01 to 02. Any thoughts? Thanks!

      I want to restore a 1996 cr80 that doesn’t have any graphics and absolutely love the 1994 cr125r tank shroud graphics, I can’t seem to find anything that fits the cr80 with those graphics. I found one last week but lost the page and couldn’t track it down again, do the cr125r graphics fit the cr80 tank shrouds? or does anyone know where someone could make them for cheap or know about any in Australia

      Hey guys,

      Could someone please explain the numbers on a needle jet for a mikuni carb?  I'm currently running a 38-73 needle but a lot of the people I talk to say I would be happier running a 38-70 needle.  I don't have a problem with going with what other recommend but I would like to understand the numbering for the needles first.  I understand the nozzle sizes, main jet and pilot jet it's just this damn needle thingamobob

      Thanks a lot
