Built a portable tire changer stand

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a tire changer that I could pack along with us in the truck. But most if not all cost an arm and leg to ship to Hawaii.

So I scrounged around and found an old barstool that had a foot rest ring that was 17". (It was being thrown away)

I picked up a 10' length of 1/2" EMT from Lowes for $1.82 and a 5' length of poly tubing for $6.70.

A few hours later this is what I ended up with:

Should do the job! Not bad for about $9 and some time.

That is awesome! I have a tire changer, but it is enormous (more for my sport bike). I may have to 'borrow' your idea. lol

nice fab job:worthy:

for tire irons, I use 2 like the pic above and longer spoon with the axle wrench on one end. (3 irons total) Works well for me.

Nice job!

Funny, it looks just like a Terry Cable tire stand but with a square base.

Yeah there are a lot of companies that make this type of stand. I just didn't want to spend the money to buy one since the shipping was expensive to Hawaii.
