Can my valves be out again?

Recommended Posts

I reshimmed the valves on my bike about 15hours ago.

This morning it struggled to start and idle again, like it did when the intake valves were too tight.

Is it possible for them to be out again?

Of course its possible. Re-check your valves and re-shim, and be sure to check that dust isn't getting past the air filter

with out recutting the valve seats in the head the 1st time you now have durt inpragnated in to the seats

so this durt axts as a grinder to the new valves --- thus waring tham out sooner

and all of this comes down to runing the K&N air filter in the durt

How far out were they ? what did they measure when you put in the gauge?

If you had no clearance, the valves are sinking into the head. Typically due to dirt ingestion.

You'll need to replace them.

Are you in zimbabwe?????

no, but i remember reading your other thread. iirc, you asked what you could do with the valves with no clearance - it was mentioned you would most likely need a vlave job in the near future.

re-shim & re-inspect could get you on the road again, temporarily most likely.

when i read you had the motor rebuilt, i assumed you had done some head work.

now i read that you rebuilt it, but ignored the head & valves???

this all could have been avoided. or at least all corrected at one time.

it's your money. if anything, the funds you spent should have went to where the problem was - the valves.

i hope when you do unload the bike on someone, that you make them aware of the known problem.
