Rear Spring

Recommended Posts

What rear spring do you guys recommend for a 270 lb. rider? Bike: klx450r, Mostly trail ride.

Go to racetech.com and look for the spring calculator. You're probably around 5.8 or 6 depending on your riding situation-good luck

RaceTech's recommendations for a rider of your weight (270 lbs)...

FRONT FORK SPRINGS

Recommended Fork Spring Rate: 0.512 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Fork Spring Rate: .440 kg/mm (stock)

REAR SHOCK SPRING

Recommended Rear Shock Spring Rate: 6.08 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Shock Spring Rate: 5.0 kg/mm (stock)

Yeah the 5.8 is too light for you. I am 240lbs and have the 5.8. I had to add a good bit of preload to get the right sag.

I had the same problem on fork springs you will have, racetech doesn't make them for our bike as stiff as is recomended for our weights. .496 was the max. I got those and they made a big difference over the stockers too.

Took me 8 hours to do the shock and the forks... but I have never worked on suspension before.

You'll have to play with the clickers, but man what a difference.
