uneven rear brake pad wear -05 wr250f

Recommended Posts

What would cause uneven brake pad wear. I've changed plenty of sets of pads on this bike and this is the first time I have seen it.

The pad closest to the caliper is nearly gone and the pad closest to the wheel has all kinds of pad left on it ...

is it an alignment issue ??

Is anything rusted, thats not allowing the caliper to float

Take a look at your pins that let the caliper float,if they are rusted then your pads will wear uneven.Or you piston might be sticking in the caliper.

The caliper is supposed to "float" on pins and move back and forth. If it's hung, it won't, and that can cause it. Pull the pin that holds the pads and the pads, and see of the caliper will move on its pins.

Also the pin that hold the pads can get grooves worn in it and keep the pad from moving. Both issues cause the symptom you talk about, so check them.
