Can I install a fuel injection system to WR250F 2006?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm looking for someone who has done or knows how to do this:

I have a WR250F 2006 (steel frame, carb'ed system).

I want to install a fuel injection system from a newer WR (R or X+) on it.

As far as I can tell I would need:

Major:

Injection Unit

CDI

Minor:

Throttle body (maybe?)

Mounting gear (maybe?)

Just other odd's and end's.

My idea is not a useless endeavor, I want my bike to be excellent.

By appearance it's flawless and looks FU@%ING AWESOME!

It's body and outside work is nearly complete, now I want to start on the engine.

I am preparing a FULL rebuild. I have a full set of valves, con rod, piston (OEM standard) and minor odd's and end's.

I will probably put in some HotCams aswell (undecided).

It has a BigBore290 but I am removing that.

Putting FI on is an expensive proposition and not a bolt on deal. You will have to make many custom made parts.

Basically, if you have to ask, then it is not something you should attempt.

I think you'd be better off buying a wrecked WR-X/R and transplanting the entire motor and guts over to your bike and then working it out to perform like a WR-F heh. Those X/R bikes are mild in comparison to the F. GL with that lol.

Theres so many reasons why its just not gonna work or be practical. One for example would be FI requires a flat bottom tank that the FI module thingy goes in the bottom of, this would require a new frame to take on the new flat bottom tank, which would mean a new engine to fit the new frame, ect ect ect. SO to answer your question, no.

You could probably get a megasquirt system to work but after the amount of money and time you would have into it, you could probably sell your bike and take the money from hooking up a FI system and buy a brand new one that IS FI'd
