Shim orientation for Sach's exchange stack

I need a little advice with this stack that goes directly behind the high speed valve in my shock.

This is the 1st shim on the front face of the piston.



Do I orientate it as pic #1 shows with it restricting oil flow through the piston or like #2 with full flow through the piston ports? I would guess position #2 to allow full flow or they would have used a traditional full-faced shim, but I'd like some confirmation.
