the carbs need to be super clean or they run like crap.

the stators and coils are also known to go bad frequently. we carry an extra of each for our races.

LOL, shorty is dead on. We raced these for 3 years. Stator and co ils where always a possibility. Hey, make sure the coil ground that hooks to the case screw is in good shape. Also the harness ground near the front of the seat. The plug cap is weak, replace it with the NGK TB50EMA and secure it with a wire tie near the end.

these things are like high maintenance women. make sure you are starting out with a fresh mixture of fuel, clean filter, clean carb, and good plug.

from there if it still then i would start looking at electrical if it is not firing over. if it gets worse when its hot, then look at the stator or coil. they tend to get worse as there is more heat.

www.ktmtalk.com has a great bible on all this.

if it runs good, but clutch does not want to go, then it needs to pulled and cleaned, and restacked. these things need new oil after every hour or so of riding, depending on how much your boy is on/off the throttle.
