SM forks borrowed from another bike?

Recommended Posts

I think that I had read somewhere that the DRZSM used forks that were previously used on another model. Is this right or do I need to step away from the crack pipe?

They aren't the same as anything else, most notable is the caliper mount for oversize brakes, but don't they share some of the same parts as some RM forks? For instance, I thought I remember reading that the left fork leg can be replaced with an RM part for using "dirt" size rotors.

zuk made an allusion to them being an offshoot of the rm legs in their adverts.probably as close as it gets to being rm's.

I read the two main difference is the lower fork tubes themselves are longer to shorten the stroke and keep the DRZ SM from bottoming on jumps and such. What I mean by bottoming is the frame hitting the ground not the suspension bottoming. and the second was mentioned and it was the front caliper mount to run a bigger brake. I think I read this on supermotojunkie or something.
