'06 crf 250R hard to start after droping it!

I'm a new rider to the dirt bike thing. I purchased a used 06 crf 250R and I have a hard time kick starting it after it's been droped. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes of kicking. If I push start it she fires right up!

It starts on the first or second kick any other time. Any suggestions?

Are you using the hotstart?

Check your valves...

But in general if you kill it hot under load it's going to be a bitch to start.

But try this.

Kick it over very slowly 5+ times until it's at TDC. Pull the hotstart and hold the throttle wide open. Kick it hard.

Always seems to work for me. I had an exhaust valve that was a little tight before and it would almost never start hot. Now that I've shimmed it, that full-throttle thing always works...

what does TDC mean?

Top Dead Center. You slowly kick the kickstarter until you hear a little click and then you know its at TDC.

check you valves!!!!! after i whent riding for about 8 hours i drove home and could not start my bike at all. the only way it would start would be bump starting it. this happend like six times. then my valves broke and found out i was running realy lean.
