Too much compression?

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a buddy's bike just doing fork seals but tried starting it up and this thing has more compression than any bike I've ever kicked in my entire life. I think it's too much. I got it started but my god it has some monster compression. I've started numerous 500's, and 250s with fresh top ends and this thing tops them all...It's actually like kicking over a 98-2000 YZ/WR 400 with out using the compression release...I wouldn't even try it with a wet boot or shoe it will just slip right off the kickstarter and fudge you up...I think maybe there might be a bad crank bearing..what do you guys think? It's not a YZ its a 2002 CR250...BTW the bike runs good (not as good as my YZ:smirk:) and revs good...I'm kinda baffled...Maybe I'm trippin...

Is there any uncommon noises when the bike is being kicked over? If there is a metal on metal sound it would be a dead give away on the crank bearing being bad.
