Tire Sizes?

Recommended Posts

I am new to buying tires. I am wanting to get a new pair for my 07 KLX, but I do not understand what the numbers stand for exactly. I know the front tire is 21 and the back is 18. When you are shopping for tires, what does the 100/100 or 110/90 stand for, and how do I know what fits on the rim? Thanks:bonk:

Thanks for the info, I ended up going with the Pirelli

XCMH 110/100. Looks like a really good tire:banana:

pretty much any of the 21" out there you can run on the front rim. 90/90x21, 90/100x21 etc. the rear is a little different because some of the wider (120) tires, the knobs will rub the swing arm.

Ok, I need some advice...I do a lot trailing...and the terrains are hilly, some mud, but mostly hard packed and rocks.

What size shud I use...soem say smaller sizes gives me better speed, and what kinda tyres shud I use f my terrains.

At the moment, I like using the on/off road tyres such as the Bridegstone TW 301/302 or the Dunlop 605s.

Do I need to use the knobby tyres or stay with the trail or on/off road tyres?

      Hello friends,
I have seen some discussion about DRZ400 (DRZ400S, etc) vs whatever other bike, when it comes to power. My riding buddy and I threw down some good old drag races this morning on the way back home after some adventure in the forest. I own/ride a 2002 KLX300R. We ran two heats, one on gravel, then one one asphalt. Who do you think won? See below:

      Hello friends,
I recently put a new Kenda Trakmaster II rear tire on my KLX300R. I'm loving the improved grip and overall performance. Here's a little video I put together of the tire in action...

      Hello friends,
Just thought I'd share a short summary video of a 154-mile adventure ride my buddy and I did last week. Northeastern AZ has an unbelievable amount of rural trail/road to explore. My KLX300R averaged 71.5 MPG on this ride.
