Handlebars and bike "fitment" for comfort and control?

Recommended Posts

Shopping online I find risers that will raise my handlebars (DR650) anywhere from a half-inch to 2 inches.

How does one determine how much is enough to raise the bars?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Bump ... for myself, which I generally don't do. But it's been almost 24 hours with no response.

Does anyone have insight on that question about bar risers?

I'm a tall guy and stand alot while riding so I use risers. I just get some 6061 al stock in different thicknesses and make my own. I've found 3/4" to be perfect for me. I'm also pickey about bar and lever position ,like 1/8" off and I'm back to the truck to adjust. To figure out the amount of rise just hold your hands at a comfortable height and guess or measure the height above the grips. Taller bars are pretty cheap also, just get some mild steel ones and try them out.

I'v often wondered the same thing. I'm a tall guy also and I'm just getting back into trail riding. I think it's going to be a prosess of elimination and trail-and-error.
