Rookie Question (Coolant)

Recommended Posts

Had to drain the coolant out of my bike last night to install new moose rad guards. In the crf250r manual it says that the Honda dealership should refill the coolant on my bike again. Shouldn't I be able to do this on my own or does the dealership have something I do not? and do I have to use Honda's specified coolant or can I go to an automotive store and get premixed coolant?

Sorry for the dumb question, it's my first bike.

You can do it yourself. Its very easy just pour it in until it reaches the top. Go get some engine ice coolant, its some really good stuff.

be careful with the chevy stuff as they are always having problems with the coolant system getting gummed up. if you do go engine ice, i did and works great, make sure you flush the system with some water first. after you fill it up get it to operating temp then let it cool off completely, overnight, then top it off again and youll be good. good luck
