header welds&plug resistor

Recommended Posts

I have a 99 xr 400. Has a cut airbox, White Bros exh, 162 main 62 pilot. It runs great. If I grind the header welds and remove the plug resistor, will I need to rejet for optimum perf?

YES NO! LOL

Do the mods and see how it runs - pay attention to throttle response, power through rev range, pop on decel, and after a hard ride check the exhaust tip color and (after engine cools) the plug color. Those are all helpful indicators of an engine's state of tune.

technically you shouldn't have to rejet just because of those mods, but watch your tip color. Also, if you haven't already rejetted, the stock jetting is very lean and should be a bumped up to at around 155/55 with the exhaust tip mods for optimal jetting.
