Yamaha 04 yfz 450 water pump

Recommended Posts

Anyone have info on how to remove/change water pump? I have done the outside seal, and need to do inner seal now on the advice of my dealer, in order to keep water out of the piston. Thanks!

They aren't very hard to do. If you are comfortable with replacing the clutch, you shouldn't have any problems. You will have to pull the whole clutch side cover to be able to get at the pump and the seals. Since it's an older model, I would suggest replacing the bearing and the impeller. The seals wear grooves in the shaft and can cause leaks even with a new seals. Make sure you lube the seals and the shaft with a good waterproof grease.
