05 wr 450 gearing question

Recommended Posts

Please help!! Im planning on making my stock street legal bike a motard in the morning!! Ordering the bare bones kit from motostrano. believe my stock gearing is 14/50...i've read I should go to a 15t cs with the 17 inch wheels for sure but getting confused on the rear sprocket. It has to be able to cruise at 65-70 "dont want excessive wear on the motor" for about an hour. Was guessing about a 44 or 46 rear. Is that ridiculous low or high? I like to do weelies and would like to be able to do 1-3 power weelies atleast. I'd be willing to give up some quickness and launch for reliability.

Thanks in advance:thumbsup:

I have a 14/46 on mine now... it drags the crap outta the swing arm. Get a 15/48 and it should do well. I have been working with this guy and he added the WR 450F to his list its called Gearingcommander . com or something. awesome site.
