Linkage snapped!

Recommended Posts

The linkage arm on my CR snapped on a jump today (over jumped it!)

Therefore I was wondering what parts do I need and what is the cheapest possible method to fix this? Should I buy a OEM or an aftermarket linkage?

There must have been a fault or weak point which made it snap?

Finding it hard to find a linkage for a 1999 Honda CR250R online. Would the CRF linkage fit? such as these http://www.btosports.com/p/StormFL?query=http%3A%2F%2Fgear.btosports.com%2Fsearch%2Findex%3Fquery%3Dlinkage

http://www.btosports.com/p/FCLINKCRF45009?query=http%3A%2F%2Fgear.btosports.com%2Fsearch%2Findex%3Fquery%3Dlinkage

Thanks to anyone that helps out!

Grease your linkage much? I'm with Lumpy, I'm guessing the bearings seized up and destroyed the link.

I don't think he asked if you knew why it happened, rather what to do to get it going again.

Ok, now that you know how to fix it for a good price. I can see the bearing housing! .10 cents worth of grease, just a little grease. An ounce of prevention grease is worth $300 linkage or it could have been a pound of flesh! Good luck and glad to hear you did not crash!

Before I bought the bike it had been standing outside in this harsh environment for several years and it was not pretty to be honest. Fixed the bike up with help from experienced people and got it going.

So I am not suprised to see the bearings being shot and that there is barely any grease on it.

Mistake learned and I think I will go with OEM parts instead since I don't feel like being used parts.

So new bearings and a new linkage arm is what I need?

and some grease !

Thanks for the help everyone!

I suggest greasing your linkage with some high quality grease. The TT shop can ship you some, and ordering an OEM linkage:

(microfiche for the 2006 CRF250R)

We do ship to Saudi Arabia and we don't overcharge on shipping like some other outfits.
