Max compression ratio on pump gas quesion

Recommended Posts

Can someone please chime in if they know.

I am currently running the 450 bb kit, with JE piston at a 13.5:1 compression ratio. I only run 94 octane from Petro Canada and the bike runs great. I have been forced into buying 92 octane once or twice with no real noticeable difference in noise or performance. I was curious for my own knowledge, at what point do you have to go to race gas or start using additives?

The sharp edges on the JE piston were knocked/cut off prior to assembly....Did this potentially lower the compression?

Does the fact that the bike is water cooled factor in?

Thanks

I am not sure about the piston to head clearance as it was not measured at the time. Cams are the Hot Cams stg 1. They were dropped in preset and not degreed.

Sorry I don't have any more specific info. It was more of a general question and I didn't realize all the other factors involved.
