'78 Honda XL250

Recommended Posts

I bought a rolling chassis for the wheels forgetting that the front wheel is 23". So I have a good 23" wheel and some other parts I dont need for sale or trade. The seat was total trash, the gas tank has a good interior but a dent on one side. and some misc other parts. thanks

side port motor?

No. 1978 was the first year of the second generation XL250 and was a complete redesign. It was produced from 1978-1981 and had the carburetor in the center, two exhaust head pipes and the infamous 23" front wheel.

The same basic engine, with a few changes such as a 6th gear and auto camchain adjustment, was used in the 1982-1983 models. They were completely redesigned again and were the first XL250s to use the new single shock Pro-Link rear suspension.

1983 was the last year for that engine design.

The bike was completely redesigned again in 1984 and was the first year for the RFVC engine.

I thought about that after I wrote it. A simple no probably would have worked. Maybe I should cut back on the coffee.
