will the headlight not being on burn out the....

Recommended Posts

I have read several different threads here. Some say that not running the headlight will burn out the regulator/rectifier or the ignition coil, and others say it will be just fine.

So my question is will the headlight not being on burn these out. It is hard to get good information if people are saying the opposite of each other.

So if you have some good information on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

You're only at risk if you've had your stator rewound (e.g. BajaDesigns) for a high-output light.

Stock, you're just fine running the bike without the headlight.

I've had my 09 for over a year with a swith on the lights. I almost never turn them on, so far so good. IMO running a dead or bad battery the sys. is trying to charge all the time would be much worse.
