removing spacer bushing from front countershaft

Recommended Posts

I was replacing the seal on my front countershaft and once i got everything back in its place i realized that I had forgotten to put the o-ring in front of the spacer bushing. So, now I have to take the bushing out, put the o-ring in, and then put the spacer bushing back in. Getting the spacer bushing out is easy with the seal out, but with the seal in it is kinda tough. Im going to try to grip it with a set of channel locks and pull it out that way but dont have my channel locks home with me right now. How do you guys get it out? Id rather not take the seal out that I just put in for fear of destroying it. Usually when I take them out they get damaged in the process.

How important is that o-ring anyhow? Its in there for a reason obviously, so I wont rest until its back in. But, just curious as to how much it really does.

I use a set of pliers or channel locks.

They seal gets the outer area and the o-ring seals the inner area, so its a must. The oil will just drain straight out without it.
