clutch outer, primary driven gear

Can anyone tell me how much free play (if any) there is between the clutch outer and the primary gear? Not the space between the outer and the gear, but the amount of twisting action. Looks like the gear is held on with rivets and rubber spacers, when these break down what are the simptoms? I can grab the clutch outer while it is still bolted on and twist is about 1/8 of an inch clock wise and counter clock wise. Is this normal?

you know, i noticed this on my 06. i put a new clutch in about 2 months ago, no problems since.......
