Wow! Did he really take the exhaust off to do that or were my eyes deceiving me?

I did mine in 5 minutes while I was standing in the garage waiting for my wife so we could go out wherever it was we were going.

No need to remove the exhaust. I just removed the single bolt for the black box, pushed it out of the way, then it was off with the old and on with the new. Bolt up the black box, adjust the tensioner and you're done.

I thought you were supposed to make sure the engine was at TDC before removing the ACCT to prevent the chain from possibly skipping a tooth.

I may be wrong but am sure the instructions with the MCCT say to do that.

It is a good idea. Many have been changed without TDCing the engine without ill effect and some have had problems. I recommend TDCing it and taking the extra time to check your valve clearances at the same time. After all, you need those baseline numbers anyway. Right?

I would recommend TDC, it only adds about a minute to the total install time
