Top speed you have hit on the DRZ400?

Recommended Posts

93 is the fastest I've yet to go on my stock SM, although I didn't quite hit the top speed - just don't really want to go faster on the street!

Wow the stock speedo must be way off considering the following would have it bouncing off of or well over the rev limiter....

174kph=108mph on stock sm gearing and tires = 10260ish rpm

106mph on stock sm gearing and tires = 10070ish rpm

155kph= 96mph which on stock 400e tires and 15/47 gearing = 9700ish rpm

BTW, I am running Michelin Pilot 160/60 rear tire...if that changes anything I am not sure. I am sure It is close to the top of the rev range but I haven't hit the limiter yet.

I hit 111mph a couple weeks ago. Then I realized that when I put my street wheels back on I forgot to swap the speedo drive gear so I was actually in the 90s which is about normal.

I noticed with my GPS that the speedo got expotentially off the faster I went.

Sure it was exponential and not off by a percent? It is normal for the difference between actual and indicated speed to be greater at higher speeds with speedo errors, while the percentage difference should remain relatively the same throughout the range.

That's some high speeds posted! I got mine to 155kph and it wouldn't go anymore... it took a while to get there too :banana:

Yes the stock speedo is off.

And my front tire is a tiny bit lower then stock.

I have a tach and yes it was at about 10.000 rpm.

I have a pretty accurate Vapor on my sm. I've seen 105ish with 15/41

When my 470 gets assembled it's going to either 15/38 or 16/38
