kevinmiller Posted March 18, 2010 So a post (possible type-o by marquezren) got me thinking, how many, or what modifications to a CRF 230 have to be made to constitute it as an "X"? I know ebeck has his listed as a CRF 230x, but does anyone else? Also, im not criticizing ebeck, I would kill for his garage, but does anyone know what has to be done to create a CRF 230x? 2004 CRF250R Posted March 18, 2010 Have a look in my garage. There's a few things there that could give you some ideas. I guess the only thing letting down the 230 is the engine, otherwise I think it would be close to being a "x"
2007hondacrf150f Posted March 18, 2010 250R. What light do you have on your bike?
SacTown Old Dude Posted March 18, 2010 Kevin Check this one http://crfsonly.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23394&highlight= And this one for the Headlight application (no pic just what he used in the discription of the mods) http://crfsonly.com/forum/garage.php?mode=browse&search=yes&user=old%20hellraiser S.T.O.D. 2004 CRF250R Posted March 18, 2010 That light comes stock on the 230's in Australia. Its a 35w bulb that runs off the stator, not the battery... So its on constantly while the bike is running, no switches or anything. It's a reasonable light, one good thing is I never have to remember to turn the thing off and there are no flat batteries ; )
2007hondacrf150f Posted March 18, 2010 Wow...comes stock. Jeez Honda's just getting cheaper and cheaper in North America.
kevinmiller Posted March 18, 2010 So basically some large suspension mods would be enough to constitute an "x"
2007hondacrf150f Posted March 19, 2010 If you want a X, check this out: https://thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=715173 Dwight made it a X but used cartridge forks instead of USD forks. If you truly want a X get some CR125 forks and put them on and tune them.
2007hondacrf150f Posted March 19, 2010 250R. Do you know where I could get that light?
kevinmiller Posted March 19, 2010 Ive been considering using the forks dwight used, i like what he did
2004 CRF250R Posted March 19, 2010 No sorry I had a quick look on ebay but theres none there. You could try going through an Australian stealership... Imo there are definately better looking lights out there than the one I have. I hear Baja Designs have some lights for the 230.
2007hondacrf150f Posted March 19, 2010 Yea, they do for $175. I think they run off the battery. I was planning on getting one, I just thought I would look into that light.
Bench Racer Posted March 19, 2010 Look at post #45 on that thread about Dwight's 230. He posts pictures of the mods. It looks different. I saw him on MavTV racing this bike in Georgia. He was leading his minute.
kevinmiller Posted March 20, 2010 Yea ive seen it, i connot figure out what year forks he used though!
2004 CRF250R Posted March 20, 2010 I would love to look into a xr250 or crf250x headlight. They seem better quality and better looking.
