stripping rattle can job off plastic

Recommended Posts

after a few meetings with tulsa's finest, my, uh, friend put the quickie spray job on his xr650r. Krylon fusion, in black. Of course the tank blistered pretty quickly, as was expected. Now that the black bike is on the hated list, I would like to remove the black paint from the tank and maybe the shrouds. What should I use that won't harm the plastic's finish too bad? Is laquer thinner too harsh?

thanks

Not to sound like an a$$ (well ok, Im an a$$) but gasoline & brakefluid are not the best products for this job!! Go to your local auto paint supply store and ask them if they have an aerosal can of AirCraft Remover for plastics. This will peel the paint right off without harming the plastics or fade the injected factory color!

Note: Paint thinner will actually melt the plastics so stay away from any of the solvents like laquer thinner!
