TTR230 Choke Problem

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up a used 230 for my son. The bike had been sitting for about a year. The problem is when using choke it will not start.. however once the bike is warm, it runs and starts just fine. I did clean the carb and replace the main and pilot with the next bigger size. I also shot air and carb cleaner through every hole I could find. Even if it is warm using the choke just kills it. Any ideas?

HI, when the engine is warm, using the choke should kill it.

There is clearly something wrong with the carb but you might be able to work around it.

Try starting the cold engine with just a little choke. If you use just the right amount of choke it may start just fine. It's worth a try. Vince

Problem solved.. in the very bottom of the float bowl I missed a small orifice that connects to the small brass pipe, it flows gas up when the choke is opened. Now the bike starts great cold or hot.👍
