Which way round - rear wheel bearing collar?

Recommended Posts

1985 XR250 rear wheel bearings.

Took the old bearings out and the spacer/collar that goes through the hub (it's about 4" long with a flared end". Cleaned everything up and applied fresh grease and then got myself completely flummuxed in remembering which way the long spacer/collar goes in and from which side. On the one end of the spacer/collar there is a LH stamped into it but I can't convince myself which way to put it back in and from what side ( sprocket/brake) before I put the new bearings in. The service book doesn't help and the diagram on servicehonda etc; the picture isn't the same shape as the actual spacer/collar.👍

Anyone remember please?

If the spacer doesn't interact/mate in any way with any interior hub structure then it's not critical. The spacer sleeve is just that, a spacer between the interior sides of the bearings. If the bearings don't have a hard seat in the hub, then the spacer would prevent you from seating them too deep, as the spacer has to fit between them for everything to go back together properly.
