How do you know if you need a new top end?

Recommended Posts

Hey. I bought my 04 125sx last year off someone on Craigslist. I never asked him if he ever rebuilt the engine. The bike runs fine and starts on the first or second kick. (Sometimes 3). Basically...I have no idea if the engine has ever been rebuilt. Would a video of the bike running help? Maybe some of you can tell by sound? I don't want to get it rebuilt if I don't need to. I don't have a compression tester, either.

you'll be fine for now. now go out and ring its friggin' neck

Your good for a little while, you want to be with in the 150-170 psi range for a 125

If you ride it wide open on tracks, it's better to keep low hours on your pistons, so you dont break them costing your self more $$$. If you putt around on trails you can get alot more hours out of your piston. Something to think about. When I was a kid, I learned every thing the hard way we didn't have TT.
